Abejorral is a municipality located in the eastern subregion of Antioquia, Colombia. It’s largely a rural territory. Its main town is 86 kilometers from Medellín, the capital of Antioquia, and 64 kilometers from José María Córdova International Airport.

Abejorral is known as “The Land of a Hundred Lords” due to the large number of influential men and women who played significant roles in the country’s development since the Antioquian colonization.

Saturday is market day, the perfect opportunity to experience a traditional Antioquian day. Farmers sell produce grown on their farms for local and regional markets. You can buy many high-quality, low-cost agricultural products. The primary economic driver is coffee, followed by avocado and milk. From its rich rural culture to its stunning landscapes, Abejorral boasts all the characteristics of a valuable historic center with a colonial style that blends Spanish tradition.

Aero Hostal La Casa en el Aire

Calling themselves an “Aero Hostal,” La Casa en el Aire is not just a place to stay; it’s an experience that defies gravity. It’s a rustic and simple hostel with views of the Andes mountain range, located in a wooden building built into a cliff on Cerro San Vicente, accessible only by climbing a trail.

Reaching it might be a challenge, but the rewards are incomparable.

After arriving at the municipality of Abejorral, you’ll need to take an unpaved, narrow road that can be muddy in winter. For this, you can rent our SUVs, which are prepared for Antioquia’s most demanding roads.

Note: There are no landmarks on the road, so we recommend staying in constant communication with the hostel staff.

This is where the adventure begins.

After reaching the meeting point, you’ll need to hike for approximately 30 minutes to a zip line. Along the way, you’ll appreciate the landscapes and get to know the local people.
